Developed by Sega and released for Arcade in 1989, Golden Axe was ported to over 10 different systems, including the C64. Set in a fantasy world, Golden Axe is a classic action platformer.

A remake of Golvellius, intitially for the MSX home computer, was released for the Sega Master System in 1988. Titled Golvellius: Valley of Doom, it reused the same plot and score as the previous title, but had new level designs.

Having similar game-play, this title is often regarded as Sega’s 8-bit companion to Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda and Crystalis.

Shatterhand is a 1991 action platformer released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Depending on the combination of power-ups you recieve in the game, the protagonist can be accompanied by 8 different disposable robot friends that have unique attacks.

If you own this title, you can access all the music from the soundtest and give it a listen through your TV set. You can unlock the soundtest by entering A, A, A, A, B, B, B, B, A, B, A, B, A, B, A, B at the title screen.

Published by Rainbow Arts, Turrican is a 1990 non-linear action platformer. The Introduction music is a cover of Vince DiCola’s “Escape”, from the Transformers The Movie soundtrack. A sample of the original can be heard here.
